Last Monday Becca and the boys went to Wellington with strict instructions not to come home until she'd found a house... after viewing lots of places from the road, and going through a few of them, Becca found somewhere that seemed pretty good so she applied for it. Thursday night Becca received the confirmation call and on Friday she completed the paperwork before coming back to Ohakune.
Nat's parents got us the contact details of the daughter of friends of theirs, who lives in Lower Hutt with her family. She offered for Becca and the boys to stay with them, and they are also going to help with the shift - he's going to drive a truck for us as he has his HT licence. We are now busy sorting and packing and tidying and cleaning and all that sort of thing. 8 (yes, that does say eight) rubbish bags in 3 weeks, all just junk from around the house! Becca's mum came down for the weekend, and helped to pack and clean, and took 4 black bags of clothes and toys back with her to drop off at the Sallies. 2 of those bags were full of Kiya's old soft toys! Nat and Becca got tough with her, and said she could choose 15 to keep and the rest were going. We didn't count her special teddy or a couple of toys with similar sentimental value towards the total, though.
Nat still has a small sort-out to do - he went through his drawers and got rid of all the clothes he hadn't been wearing; but then Becca went shopping in the end of season sales in Wellington and bought him practically a whole new wardrobe! So now Nat needs to make room for all his new clothes. Other than that, the packing is going well. Josiah's room is done, as well as the storeroom, the lounge, the bathroom, most of Kiya's room (Becca should finish it today), the office area, the shed, and three-quarters of the kitchen. The biggest job still remaining is Nat and Becca's room, and once we get in there it won't take too long.
The truck arrives Friday evening, and we move into our new place Saturday. Not long now!
